1. Hardware Setup
Connect Hardware Components as illustrated in Figure 1:
- USB to Serial Cable: Connect this cable to the pumpdown laptop.
- Gray Null Modem Cable: Connect one end to the USB to Serial cable.
- Black Startech Serial to Ethernet Adapter: Plug the adapter into the Null Modem cable and ensure it’s connected to power.
- Access Point Setup:
- Connect an Ethernet cable from the Startech adapter to the LAN port on the power adapter.
- Connect another Ethernet cable from the Access Point to the POE port on the power adapter.
- Position Access Point facing the logger’s access point to maximize connectivity.
Check COM Port:
- Open Device Manager > Ports on the laptop to confirm the USB to Serial cable’s COM port (usually labeled as USB Prolific).
- If the COM port is not listed: Install the necessary drivers for the USB to Serial cable.
2. Configure FracCAT on Pumpdown Laptop
Open FracCAT Software:
- Go to the Monitor tab.
Set Up Data Scribe:
- Locate and open Data Scribe from the left-hand menu.
- In the Data Scribewindow:
- Click New, then name the data stream.
- Set Format to User Defined.
- Select the Port as the correct COM# from Step 2.
- Set Baud Rate to 9600.
- Choose Write to = Serial Port.
Select Channels:
- In the Available column, find and add necessary channels to Selected (minimum channels needed are TR_PRESS and CFLD_RATE).
- Click Save to retain the configuration.
Start Data Transmission:
- Click Start. A green light should appear on a stoplight icon in the bottom left, indicating active data transmission.
3. Configure Dipole Pump Plugin for ZipVision
Open Dipole Pump Plugin on MaticAI/ZipVision computer.
Set TCP IP Configuration:
- In the TCP IP Configsection (bottom left), enter:
- Host IP: 10.0.0.2
- Port: 90
- Press Start Receiving to begin data reception.
- In the TCP IP Configsection (bottom left), enter:
Verify Data Stream and Indexing:
- Check for incoming data values in the text boxes.
- In the bottom-right table, ensure Index | Value pairs are displayed.
- If table values are not separated, enter a comma in the Division Character field (bottom right).
Assign Index Numbers to Parameters:
- Match the index numbers to the appropriate parameters:
- For example, if Index 1 is Pressure, enter 1 beside the Pressure field in Pump 1.
- If Index 2 is Rate, enter 2 beside the Rate field in Pump 1.
- Verify that pressure and rate values are displayed in MaticAI/ZipVision.
- Match the index numbers to the appropriate parameters:
Safety Note: Ensure all hardware connections are secure and COM ports are correctly configured to avoid data transmission issues. Verify access point positioning for optimal connectivity.
