Identify COM Port:
- On the Commander computer, open Device Manager > Ports.
- Connect a USB to Serial cable to the desired port, and note the COM port number that appears (e.g., COM8).
Note the COM port number (ex COM8 as seen in Figure 1)
4. Complete Pump Down Rig Setup:
- Using the Dipole-configured Serial to Ethernet converter:
- Connect the Null Modem cable to the converter.
- Connect an Ethernet cable to the converter and then to a wireless access point.
- The Serial to Ethernet converter will stream data via TCP/IP at 10.0.0.2, Port 90.
5. Verify Serial to Ethernet Converter Configuration:
- On the PD Vision computer, open a browser and go to 10.0.0.2.
- In the converter’s settings, go to UART on the left menu.
- Confirm the baud rate is set to 9600.
6. Data Streaming Verification:
- After setup, you should see zeros streaming across to the Dipole pump plugin, indicating data transmission.
7. Restart Commander Computer:
- Restart the Commander computer to apply changes.
- Values should now be visible on PD Vision.
8. Configure Dipole Pump Plugin:
- In the Dipole Pump Plugin, find the index number matching each parameter (e.g., pressure, rate).
- Enter the index number next to the relevant parameter under a pump.
Safety Note: Ensure correct COM port settings and baud rate to prevent configuration errors. Always restart the computer after setup to apply changes.
