Steps to Finish a Stage as Misfire in pdVISION

In pdVISION, a Misfire indicates that one or more of the planned shots during a stage did not successfully detonate. This status is selected when there is a failure in the perforation process, and some of the charges did not fire as intended. It is crucial to properly log and report misfires to ensure accurate tracking of the operation and make decisions about re-runs or corrective actions.

1. Ensure Tool String is at Surface:

  • Before finishing the stage, make sure that the tool string has returned to the surface (less than 200' depth) to capture the entire run.

2. Hold the Job:

  • Once the tool string is at surface, press the Hold Job button to pause the operation. This will allow you to review the stage and finalize it.

3. Press the Finish & Publish Report Button:

  • After holding the job, press the Finish & Publish Report button to start the stage completion process.

4. Select "Misfire":

  • When prompted to confirm the status of the stage, choose Misfire. This indicates that one or more planned shots failed to fire as intended.

  • Select the Guns or Plugs that failed to fire, and include a note detailing the incident.

5. Review and Verify Shot Depths:

  • After selecting "Misfire", review the shot depths that were executed during the stage. Ensure that all shot depths are recorded correctly, including any misfires.

6. Complete Time Capture (NPT):

7. Configure the Ghost Log:

  • After completing Time Capture, the Ghost Log Configuration window will appear.
8. In the Ghost Log Setup Panel:
  • Select the stage and pass from your logging pass to begin the setup.
9. Ghost Preview:
  • Use the Ghost Preview to evaluate the CCL log at a specific Point of Interest (POI).
  • Adjust the depth shift based on the POI as needed.
  • And add the Correlation Point.

10. Top Log Depth Value:
  • Set the starting point for the ghost log overlay by adjusting the top log depth value
  • Note: Make sure to adjust the depth shift carefully to ensure accurate comparisons.

11. Save and Publish the Report:

  • Once all shot depths are verified and time capture is complete, press Save to finalize the report.
  • The stage report will be made available, and any configured notifications will be sent to stakeholders.

These steps guide you through finishing a stage in pdVISION with a Misfire status, ensuring all critical data, including shot depths, time capture, and ghost log configuration, is properly documented before finalizing the report.
